MEET THE DIRECTOR

Steve DiPietro launched the RVC Futures program in 2011, inspired by the promising talent he recognized in the younger generation. His vision was to create a developmental pipeline that would eventually feed into the high school varsity team. Along the way, players sharpened their skills while building lasting bonds with friends and classmates on the field.

Steve is the head coach of the boys’ lacrosse team at South Side High School in Rockville Centre, New York, where he is also a Physical Education teacher.  His coaching career at South Side began in 1998, initially serving as a varsity assistant and middle school head coach. In 2008, he assumed the role of varsity head coach. Under his leadership, the team has achieved significant success, including six conference championships, five Nassau County championship game appearances, and two New York State championships, with the most recent state title secured in 2024 . 

In recognition of his exemplary coaching and dedication to the holistic development of his players, DiPietro was honored with the 2024 Gerald J. Carroll Jr. Exemplary Coaching Award by USA Lacrosse. This national award celebrates high school coaches who prioritize the personal growth and well-being of their athletes alongside athletic achievement . 

Before his coaching tenure, DiPietro was a standout midfielder at Adelphi University. He contributed to the university’s 1995 national championship team and the 1996 runner-up squad . 

Throughout his career, DiPietro has been recognized with multiple Coach of the Year awards at both local and national levels, reflecting his impact on the sport and his community.
